Roca Junior
Out with Dylan Aguilera on his farm in Costa Rica

About Roca Junior

From Friends to new Friends

Coffee is more than a drink – it’s the people behind it. We’re a small roastery with a café in Munich’s Maxvorstadt, and we buy our beans from farmers we know.

01—Specialty Coffee

The details make the difference

For us, specialty coffee means traceable origin, careful processing and a roast that shows what’s in the bean. Our roasts are fresh, hand-picked and transparent.

Every label tells you where the coffee comes from, who grew it, at what altitude, which variety and which process – and what it tastes like. That’s all you need to know what ends up in your cup.

02—Straight from friends

We know the people behind our coffee

We keep close partnerships with farmers who share our values. Some of them we visit in person to see quality and sustainable farming first-hand.

For years we’ve been in close contact with Dylan Aguilera and his family in Costa Rica’s West Valley. Their farm, Finca Matilde, is named after his grandmother. This closeness is no coincidence – it’s the reason we can source exceptional coffees from there year after year.

And the friendship goes both ways: on their way to World of Coffee in Brussels in summer 2026, the team from Aguilera Coffee Traders stopped off in Munich – and at our place on Kreittmayrstraße.

03—Roastery

Freshly roasted every week

We roast every week in small batches. That keeps the coffee fresh and lets us roast each origin the way it needs – whether for filter or for espresso.

Every coffee gets its own hand-drawn label. On the Finca Matilde Sarchimor you’ll find the woman the farm is named after, standing among the hills of the West Valley.

You can get our beans in the online shop and in our shop in Munich.

04—Rocademy

Understand coffee. And make it yourself.

If you want to know what makes a good cup, you’ll learn it with us at the machine: from understanding the bean to technique. We show you what’s behind truly good coffee – whether you’re just starting out or already standing at the machine.

The Rocademy offers barista, filter coffee, latte art and sensory courses. We also run the barista course in English.

Our home on Kreittmayrstraße

Coming to us from Sandstraße, the view of the beautiful St. Benno church is amazing every single time. The St. Benno quarter has a character all its own: small studios, all kinds of musical instrument makers and one of the coolest farmers’ markets in all of Munich.

We’re happy to have found our home here, and proud to be part of the community. With our coffee we want to create opportunities for encounters, good conversations and new friendships.

06—Merch

Roca’s Boxing Club

Two passions, one collection: coffee and combat sports. Our shirts stand for energy, attitude and having fun with it – whether over your first espresso in the morning or your next uppercut at the gym.

Just like with our coffee, we don’t cut corners on quality: 100 % organic cotton, 220 g/m², the finest screen printing. From day one we’ve had them printed by Günter Götzer and his Munich screen-printing shop Arsonists Form Farbe.
